We're in Onstream

The pilot phase of the Brookes ID project was announced in the latest issue of Onstream, the staff magazine of Oxford Brookes University:
BrookesID (Individual Development) is an inclusive co-curricular framework which has been created with students and is a PESE (Programme to enhance the Student Experience) project. It recognises and rewards student engagement and commitment beyond their programme of study and is aligned to the Brookes Guiding Principles. As part of the BrookesID initiative a new app has been launched which will run this semester as a pilot, leading up to the official launch of BrookesID expected in September 2017.

Sign up for BrookesID

BrookesID

BrookesID is a new co-curricular programme designed in partnership with students to recognise and reward commitment and engagement beyond your programme of study. It is due to be launched in September 2017, but we would like you to be one of the first to try it with our pilot running this semester. BrookesID can be accessed through the app which you can download from iTunes or Google Play.  You can also access it through Moodle.

If you click on the menu in the upper right hand of the app home screen you will see a range of features.

Activities

The activities available are limited for the pilot and we would like you to consider signing up for activities you are currently involved in. However, when launched, the programme will have a whole range of activities which are University-wide and available to all. All activities are categorised against each of the Oxford Brookes guiding principles which means the programme is distinctive to Brookes students. You can choose activities to learn new skills, meet new friends from other courses, improve your employability, pursue your passions and interests, or just to have fun for your own enjoyment or well-being. If you're interested in volunteering, being a member of a society, playing in a sports team, developing a business idea or entering a competition... there's something for everyone.

Achievements and Awards

When you successfully complete an activity, you will receive an Achievement. If you get 2 Achievements, you will get a Bronze Award, if you get 3, you will get a Silver Award, and if you get 5, you will get a Gold Award. You can be awarded a minimum of Bronze in one guiding principle, up to a maximum of Gold in all four of the guiding principles. Any students who achieve Gold in all four of the guiding principles will be awarded at graduation. You can complete activities at your own pace and over the entire duration of your studies. When you graduate, you will receive a transcript certificate outlining all your achievements and awards. This will help you to stand out from the crowd for competitive employment and will be a fantastic record of your time as a student at Oxford Brookes.

Sign up today and you will be getting a head start toward your BrookesID Award!

Awarding a badge on Moodle

Students can sign up for activities and be awarded an achievement once they have met the criteria for it. Typically, this involves showing a minimum level of commitment to the activity.
